5 questions (8 parts). Try each one first, then open its answer.
Question 1
Light — Reflection and Refraction. Asked once: 2025 (same type asked 3 times)
24Study the figure in which the path of a ray of light going from Medium 1 to Medium 2 is shown. (a) Out of the two Media – Medium 1 and Medium 2, in which is the speed of light more ? (b) State reason of bending of the refracted ray away from the normal. (c) Express refractive index of Medium 2 with respect to Medium 1 in terms of speed of light in two media.Question 2 (case study, 4 parts)
Light — Reflection and Refraction. Asked once: 2023 (same type asked 3 times)
Hold a concave mirror in your hand and direct its reflecting surface towards the sun. Direct the light reflected by the mirror on to a white card-board held close to the mirror. Move the card-board back and forth gradually until you find a bright, sharp spot of light on the board. This spot of light is the image of the sun on the sheet of paper; which is also termed as “Principal Focus” of the concave mirror.39 (a)List two applications of concave mirror.39 (b)If the distance between the mirror and the principal focus is 15 cm, find the radius of curvature of the mirror.39 (c)Draw a ray diagram to show the type of image formed when an object is placed between pole and focus of a concave mirror.39 (c) ORAn object 10 cm in size is placed at 100 cm in front of a concave mirror. If its image is formed at the same point where the object is located, find : (i) focal length of the mirror, and (ii) magnification of the image formed with sign as per Cartesian sign convention.Question 3
Magnetic Effects of Electric Current. Asked once: 2023 (same type asked 3 times)
16A positron enters a uniform magnetic field at right angles to it as shown. The direction of force experienced by the positron will be :Tap an option to check your answer.
Question 4
Metals and Non-metals. Asked once: 2025 (same type asked 3 times)
28 (b)(i) Name two metals which react violently with cold water. List any three observations which a student notes when these metal are dropped in a beaker containing water. (ii) Write a test to identify the gas evolved (if any) during the reaction of these metals with water.Question 5
Metals and Non-metals. Asked once: 2023 (same type asked 3 times)
Two statements are given, one labelled Assertion (A) and the other labelled Reason (R). Select the correct answer from the options given below.20Assertion (A) : Melting point and boiling point of ethanol are lower than that of sodium chloride. Reason (R) : The forces of attraction between the molecules of ionic compounds are very strong.Tap an option to check your answer.
