In Young's double slit experiment the intensities at two points, for the path difference λ4\frac{\lambda}{4} and λ3\frac{\lambda}{3} (λ=\lambda = wavelength of light used) are I1I_{1} and I2I_{2} respectively. If I0I_{0} denotes the intensity produced by each one of the individual slits then I1+I2I0\frac{I_{1}+I_{2}}{I_{0}} is equal to (cos⁡60∘=0.5,cos⁡45∘=12)(\cos 60^{\circ}=0.5,\cos 45^{\circ}=\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}})

In a Young's double slit experiment, the intensities at two points, for the path difference λ4\dfrac{\lambda}{4} and λ3\dfrac{\lambda}{3} (λ\lambda being the wavelength of light used) are I1I_1 and I2I_2 respectively. If I0I_0 denotes the intensity produced by each one of the individual slits, then I1+I2I0=\dfrac{I_1 + I_2}{I_0} = (cos⁡45∘=12,cos⁡60=12)\left(\cos 45^\circ = \dfrac{1}{\sqrt{2}}, \cos 60 = \dfrac{1}{2}\right)
