Sound — MHT-CET Physics
Sound has 47 past-year questions in the MHT-CET bank, about one in five HARD. Nearly half are organ pipes and resonance: which harmonics a closed or open pipe allows, overtones matched between pipes, a resonance tube filled with water, and beats. Most of the rest is the Doppler effect, where the whole skill is putting the observer's speed on top of the fraction and the source's underneath with the right signs. Every PYQ is tagged.
Every subtopic, worked example, formula and trap in one printable document — answers shown, ready to share.

Sound Waves: Speed, Energy and Loudness
6 PYQsSound is a mechanical wave that needs a medium, travels at v = fλ, carries energy proportional to the square of its amplitude times the square of its frequency, and is measured in decibels, where every 10 dB is ten times the intensity.
Organ Pipes, Resonance and Beats
22 PYQsA pipe open at both ends vibrates at every multiple of v/2L, a pipe closed at one end only at the odd multiples of v/4L; a resonance tube picks out the lengths λ/4, 3λ/4, 5λ/4…, and two close frequencies heard together beat at their difference.
The Doppler Effect
19 PYQsA listener hears f(v ± v_o)/(v ∓ v_s): approach raises the pitch and recession lowers it, the observer's speed adds to or subtracts from the numerator and the source's from the denominator, so the same speed shifts the pitch more when the source moves.
