Algebraic Identities: SSC CGL Quantitative Aptitude

Algebraic Identities and Simplification has 172 questions in the SSC CGL Tier I bank, and only six of them are HARD: 97 are EASY and 69 MODERATE. Almost every question is one identity used once, so with about 36 seconds a question the skill is recognising which identity the numbers are dressed in. Two habits carry most of the chapter. First, rewrite what you are given in the form an identity wants: a sum and a product, x + 1/x, or three numbers that add to zero. Second, when the options are expressions, put small numbers into the question and the options and keep the one that matches. The six HARD questions are all high powers of x ± 1/x, where the work is careful arithmetic rather than a new idea.

The handout has every subtopic, worked example, formula and trap with answers shown. The formula sheet is the chapter’s formulas and traps alone, on one page.
