Statements: SSC CGL Reasoning
Statement-Based Reasoning has 65 questions in the SSC CGL Tier I bank, every one from the 2025 shifts: 41 EASY and 24 MODERATE. They give a short statement and ask what follows from it, what it takes for granted, which event caused another, or what should be done. The same discipline answers all of them: the statement is the only fact you have. Accept a conclusion or assumption only if the statement needs it, and choose the course of action that is practical and fair rather than the most dramatic.
The handout has every subtopic, worked example, formula and trap with answers shown.
Subtopic notes
Statement and Conclusions
29 PYQsA short statement and two conclusions or inferences: a conclusion follows only if the statement says it or plainly implies it, without adding anything new.
Statement and Assumptions
18 PYQsA statement, often a claim or a piece of advice, and two or three assumptions: an assumption is implicit if the statement takes it for granted without saying it.
Cause, Effect and Courses of Action
18 PYQsDecide which of two events caused the other, which courses of action sensibly address a problem, or what a responsible person should do in a given situation.
