Read “q/paper” as a recent rate, not a lifetime share
Two different numbers appear on every card below and they do not measure the same thing. The question count is lifetime — all 2,228 questions across 45 shifts and 5 years. The q/paper rate is measured on recent shifts only (2024–2025), and that is the number the strands below are built on.
They disagree because MHT-CET moved its syllabus for 2025. A chapter can hold a large lifetime pile and be worth nothing on the paper you are about to sit, or hold almost nothing and be worth several marks — the two chapters at the foot of this page are exactly those cases. A lifetime average hides both, which is why tiering here ignores it.

Line and Plane
205 q - 4.96/paper - 42% HARD. The single heaviest chapter on recent papers. Seven subtopics, and the HARD is spread rather than concentrated (top two carry only 47%), so there is no cherry-pick here: you own the whole chapter or you lose ten marks.

228 q - 4.81/paper - 55% HARD. The largest chapter in the bank and the hardest of the cornerstones. Scalar Triple Product (71 q, 72% HARD) and Cross Product (66 q, 64%) carry 74% of its HARD between them, so this chapter DOES cherry-pick: secure Dot Product (50 q, 28% HARD) first.

Low HARD rates and short questions. Every question on this paper is worth exactly the same two marks, so these pay the same as a scalar triple product for a fraction of the clock. Answer them on the opening sweep, before you touch an integrating factor.

46 q - 1.00/paper - 4% HARD. The lowest-HARD chapter in the subject, and one of its two subtopics (Objective Function, 23 q) has NEVER produced a HARD question. Two marks that should take under a minute. Do this first, every time.

Its 31% HARD overstates the cost, because the difficulty is front-loaded into learning ONE technique (build the truth table) that then applies to every question.

Long Tail — last pass, and still answer every one
Expensive per question, and collectively far too big to ignore. These come last, on whatever clock is left after the cornerstones and quick-wins are banked — and every one of them still gets an answer, because with no negative marking a guess costs nothing and a blank is strictly worse.

93 q - 2.08/paper - 56% HARD. The hardest chapter in the subject by rate, and unusually it does NOT cherry-pick: both its subtopics sit above 54% HARD. Continuity at a Point (47 q) is parameter-hunting; Limit Evaluation (46 q) is technique recognition.

Conic Sections

ENTERED in 2025: 3 questions across 2021-2024, then 16 in 2025 alone. Its lifetime weightage understates it badly, and a student prepping from 2023-24 papers has never seen it. Expensive at 42% HARD, but no longer optional.
Measures of Dispersion

DROPPED after 2024. It ran 1.0 question per paper across 29 shifts in 2023-24 and then scored ZERO across all 14 papers of 2025. At 9% HARD it used to be one of the cheapest chapters on the exam, which is exactly why it is a trap now: it is pleasant to revise and worth nothing. Do not spend hours here.
