Work, Energy and Power: CDS Physics
Work, Energy and Power has 5 past-year questions in CDS General Knowledge, from 2020 (II) to 2025 (II): 3 EASY and 2 MODERATE. Three of them came in the two 2025 papers. Each question rests on one formula: work as force times displacement along the force, kinetic energy as half m v squared, or power as work over time. Learn when a force does zero work and why kinetic energy follows the square of the speed, and the sums take under a minute.
The handout has every subtopic, worked example, formula and trap with answers shown. The formula sheet is the chapter’s formulas and traps alone, on one page.

- Effort is not work→ Work done by a force
- A centre-pointing force does no work→ Work done by a force
- Kinetic energy follows the square→ Kinetic and potential energy
- Lowest point, least potential energy→ Kinetic and potential energy
- kW is power, kWh is energy→ Power
- Least power uses the potential energy gained→ Power
